Wylam’s Jakehead is a superb and classical India Pale Ale. It boasts a beautifully rich amber colour, while strong citrus fruit and pine aromas of the American hops sit above an earthy malt base. On the palate it is distinctly bittersweet with great complexity, a malty base adding great depth to the grapefruit and citrus highlights. A clean finish with a slightly bitter edge completes a truly wonderful experience.

INDIA PALE ALE (IPA) - At the height of its empire, Britain’s outposts demanded beer, but India itself was too warm for brewing. India Pale Ale was created in response, a beer that could survive the arduous journey to India. Since then, IPA has been used to describe a well-hopped, high-gravity beer. Today the use of high quantities of American hops has resulted in beers with floral aromas on top of a hop explosion.
WYLAM BREWERY - Founded in 2000, Wylam is a 30 Barrel Micro Brewery that resides at the Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne. The brewery has certainly come a very long way since its founding fathers, John Boyle and Robin Leighton, crafted their first their beer in a potting shed in the village of Wylam, Northumberland. But ever since that day, the Wylam team have been committed to making high-quality beer that caters for the ever-changing and evolving palates of beer lovers. Now producing a range that covers all beer styles, Wylam has become one of the UK’s most successful and respected craft brewers.
