Cardhu’s 12 Year Old Single-Malt is rapidly becoming one of the most popular and respected single-malts on the market. A beautiful golden honey colour, it boasts rich, sweet aromas honey-nut with notes of heather and smoke, as well as subtle notes of apple peel and pear to boost complexity. On the palate it is extremely well-balanced and very smooth with a delightful sweetness, until notes of smoke lead to a dry finish. Delightful.

CARDHU was founded in 1824 by John Cumming, a man who had previously been a whisky smuggler. The distillery was sited high up on Mannoch Hill, above the River Spey due to the peat softening the water. In 1885 the distillery was rebuilt on a new piece of land but continued to stay in the hands of the Cummings family until 1893 when Elizabeth Cumming sold the distillery to Johnnie Walker and Sons on the condition that the Cumming family could continue the day-to-day running of the distillery. In 1960 the distillery's still-house, mash-house and tun-room were rebuilt, and in 1970 steam coils were introduced to heat the stills and the number of stills was increased to six. Today Cardhu produces some of the most popular whisky in the world.
